Brian Tashman is a deputy division director at the American Civil Liberties Union. At the ACLU, Tashman works on issues including immigrant rights, social and economic justice, and electoral advocacy. Previously, Tashman reported on right-wing leaders and movements for People For the American Way’s Right Wing Watch project.
Tashman’s writing focuses on attacks on immigrants, democratic values, and LGBTQ people. He’s an expert on the Religious Right, white nationalist groups, and the conservative media. His expertise and research has been drawn upon in outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, MSNBC, CNN, and The Daily Show. Tashman has also authored reports on conservative political movements, including those attacking immigration reform, voting access, religious freedom, reproductive rights, and LGBT-inclusive education. He graduated from Haverford College in 2010.
